What is that? Hair transplantation is a process that requires the removal of follicular units (graft composed of 1 to 4 hairs) under local anesthesia and then implanting them in the area of the scalp suffering from thinning or total absence (Alopecia) of hair. Because this micro surgery is done on the skin of the scalp, it is considered risk-free. The hair transplant is performed under local anesthesia, without pain for the patient who remains conscious throughout the duration of the procedure. A blood test is carried out on site before the act and an injection of platelet-rich plasma (PRP) is performed at the end of the intervention. The intervention can last between 5-7 hours depending on the number of grafts taken.
This extraction of micro or mini-grafts can be carried out in two different ways:
The FUE technique: By taking each follicular unit individually from the previously shaved donor area, using a "micro-punch" whose diameter is less than 1 mm and which has the advantage of leaving NO scar. The follicular micrograft units containing one or two hairs are used to establish the frontal line while those with 3 or 4 hairs allow to restore a better density in the areas of the top of the skull.
The FUT technique: By cutting a strip of the donor area of 10 to 30 cm and then extracting the grafts. This technique does not require shaving.
Follicular unit transplantation can provide an aesthetic and definitive solution to the majority of hair thinning or loss of certain hairy areas. In men, as in women, the main reasons for resorting to a transplant are androgenetic (hormonal) alopecia, scarring of the head, eyebrows or beard, and thinning due to traction alopecia ( braids, straightening…).
Post-operative follow-up: The traces of the intervention fade after about ten days and the skull resumes its normal appearance in 15 to 20 days. The transplanted hair will fall out after 15 days and will grow back completely after 12 months. The final results will therefore be seen after a year, once the regrowth of new hair is complete.
The advantages of hair transplantation:
The small round scars in the sampling area are almost imperceptible to the naked eye and heal in a few days after the intervention.
There are no sutures.
It also allows the aesthetic and definitive correction of most pilar alopecia.
No damage to the hair implant (minimal transection rate),
Possibility to return to work within 2 to 3 days,
Natural results
A higher density
